Cook Islands School Garden Program

Reach: 12 schools in Rarotonga, 2 schools in outer islands
School level: Primary school, Secondary school

Program goals:

  • Provide education & introduce agriculture as an entry point into science in primary schools as well as an avenue for climate change resilience
  • Promote healthy living
  • Protect the environment
  • Reducing NCDs

Managed by Korero o te Orau (local NGO) and Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), with engagement from MoA and individual schools.

We aspire to connect stakeholders from across food systems, including primary producers, educators and nutrition and health experts, to support the advocacy, development and establishment of activities that result in the provision of food and nutrition education activities in Pacific Island Countries. ​
